Today I installed the 64-bit edition of Windows Vista Ultimate on my notebook. I am using the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 for a couple of months now. Although I have had some issues with the mouse the first couple of weeks after the purchase I am very pleased with this state-of-the-art device. I especially love the built-in laser pointer and presentation buttons.
For all the mouse features the work correctly on the Windows platform one needs to install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software prior to installing the mouse. At the time of this writing the latest version of the IntelliPoint software for Windows Vista 64-bit Edition is v6.1. But before you can install the IntelliPoint v6.1 software on the Windows Vista x64 Edition you need to patch your Windows platform with a critical update as described in KB925528 that fixes some issues with hardware devices when Windows Vista comes out of the sleep mode and these issues might even result in a BSoD.
The steps involved in installing the Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000:
- Download and run the Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB925528)
- Restart Windows
- Download and run the Microsoft IntelliPoint v6.1 software
- Restart Windows
- Install the Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000
