The first CTP of Microsoft Axum (previously code-named Maestro) is available for download.
Axum is a research project from the Microsoft’s Parallel Computing Platform that aims to validate a safe and productive parallel programming model for the .NET framework. It’s a language that builds upon the architecture of the web and the principles of isolation, actors, and message-passing to increase application safety, responsiveness, scalability and developer productivity. Other advanced concepts are data flow networks, asynchronous methods, and type annotations for taming side-effects.
This CTP release is an add-on for Visual Studio 2008, therefore you need Visual Studio 2008 Professional or higher.
This release has been tested on the following Windows operating systems:
- Windows 7 RC (x86 and x64)
- Windows Vista (x86 and x64)
- Windows XP (x86 and x64)
You can provide feedback on the Axum Forum. The Axum team also has a blog.
