Database Providers for Entity Framework

by Gabriel Lozano-Moran 25. October 2009 07:49

I am glad to see that there are Database Providers for the Entity Framework available for the following Database Management Systems:

  • SQL Server
  • SQLLite
  • Oracle
  • MySQL
  • SQLAnywhere
  • PostgreSQL
  • IBM DB2
  • Informix
  • UniVerse
  • Firebired
  • Sybase
  • Synerge/DE

So you can no longer say that you are not going to adopt Entity Framework because your DBMS is not supported :-)

I will be playing around with the latest version of Entity Framework and figure out if applications could be built following the Domain-Driven Design (DDD) approach using Visual Studio 2010, Entity Framework and SQL Server 2008.

You might also want to check out the feature CTP for EF that contains 'Code Only' which lets you configure your mappings from C# using conventions.
